Background and problem

Mobile banking user behaviour is spread across multiple business stages, with inconsistent definitions and missing fields, making it hard to support business judgement directly. A stable data processing pipeline had to be established before any statistical analysis.

Constraints

  • The data is sensitive and was processed only within a controlled environment, with no raw records shared externally.
  • Business fields change with each release, so the cleaning logic had to be maintainable.
  • Analysis conclusions had to be understandable to non-technical colleagues.

Approach and architecture

The workflow has four stages: collection, cleaning, metric calculation and statistical analysis. Field naming and time conventions were unified, reusable cleaning scripts were established, and metrics and reports were then organised around business questions.

Key decisions

  • Documented definitions: every metric states its definition and data source, avoiding the same name meaning different things.
  • Layered scripts: collection, cleaning and analysis are kept separate so each can be rerun independently.
  • Explainable results: prefer statistical methods the business can understand, with complex models used only as a supplement.

Results and measurement

Established a reusable workflow for data collection, cleaning and statistical analysis that supports business decisions; specific business metrics are not disclosed on this site.

Technical details

  • Extracted features such as transactions, logins and feature usage from behaviour logs.
  • Used Pandas/SQL for cleaning, aggregation and segmented statistics.
  • Used classification/clustering results to explain user segments and business differences.

Reflection

Definition drift across periods is the biggest cost. If I did it again, I would establish a field dictionary and version records before starting the analysis.

Scope and security

This is a static case study. The page does not run project code or collect uploads, logins or visitor data. Metrics come from project records and local experiments; reproduce details from the source or report. Read the site security model →
